English as a language has in the recent years gained recognition for its use as
an international business language. The English lingua-franca possesses some
advantages as to its use which includes the large number of native and non-native
people who hold reservations to its use as a language for conducting international
businesses (Crystal, 2012). This essay aims to outline and expound on the advantages
and disadvantages of that the English language will bring to my country if it is made the
sole business language.

TOPIC:
Write an essay of approximately 1200 words (+/- 10%) on the following
topic:
More and more multinational companies are mandating English as the common
corporate language (Harvard Business Review, 2012).
Outline the advantages and disadvantages of making English the single
language for business in your country. Provide specific examples to make your
case.
Notes:
1. As well as Rogerson-Revell (2007) and Jones (2013), you should cite at
least three other academic sources. These should be academic
references such as web- or paper-based journal articles.
2. In addition to academic references, you may also use quality non-
academic references. Non- academic sources include substantive
journals, newspaper/magazine articles, or books for general readership.
N.B. Wikipedia and online blogs are NOT appropriate references.
3. APA referencing style must be used in your essay. Please use the style
consistently in the correct alphabetic format and with the correct words
italicised.
4. All work is to be typed (1.5 line spacing) and in 12 point Arial font.
