Experience of Poor Time Management

I was working in a restaurant as a manager in charge of operations. My duties included supervising waiters as they performed their duties, getting and addressing customer complaints, and ensuring that there were quality customer services. The restaurant operated in a highly competitive market whereby there were over 6 similar businesses offering fast food services. The restaurant had well set objectives that all employees and managers were supposed to work hard to achieve and the overall manager was always encouraging employees to work hard towards achieving organizational goals and objectives. However, one employee working as a waiter had a challenge with time management. She could always get to work 20-30 minutes late and would come running seeming like one who has left some unfinished businesses somewhere. I always had problems with the said employee and would always warn her of dare consequences if the behavior continues. One day, a group of ten customers came at around lunch time and sat ready to give their orders. However, the waiter rushed to serve them even and took their orders. After about 15 minutes, one of the customers spotted me and complained how they placed their orders 15 minutes ago and they had not been served and there was no response from the waited as she was always hurrying to other customers.

Experience of Poor Time Management

This is an individual reflection. Please take a moment to reflect upon the following topic

Review your second draft of the Compelling Message you created.

Update your draft taking the following into account to add a short story example to it:

a) Can you think of a short real story example that would illuminate your message? (For example, if your message was about customer service, using an example of when you had experienced great or poor service.) If you cannot think of a real personal example, would there be a real business example or hypothetical example you could use?
b) Think also about the “Story Factors” in the last video lecture segment when you choose and write your story.
c) Keep the story short and to the point.

Review this new draft of your full Compelling Message which has built upon all the message techniques we have discussed so far.

Finally reflect upon your message from the perspective of your audience who would read or hear it:

Is it clear, compelling, relevant and comprehensible?

One way to reflect here is to get feedback. Find someone and explain the situation. Try out your full message and get their comments and advice.
