Essay information and resources
Here's everything you need to get started on your essay. You will also find
further information and advice about the essay in lesson 2.
Details of task
You are to write an essay explaining:
 The importance of marketing;
 The concept of customer value; and
 The link between customer value and marketing.
Tip: You should focus on explaining and drawing links between fundamental
concepts, rather than on specific marketing strategies and tactics.
You must use Streat Cafes ( https://www.streat.com.au/ ) as the example to
explain these concepts.
Essay Formatting requirements
You must use Times New Roman size 12 font, 1.5 line spacing, fully justified
paragraphs and 3cm margins on A4 pages. Please number the pages. The
first page is a title page which includes, as a minimum: the essay title (of your
choice), tutor's name, your name and student ID. This is to be followed by the
first page of the essay (numbered pg 1 – the title page is not numbered).
Your assignment must be all in one document only, preferably in .pdf format,
but acceptable as a .doc or .docx if you can't create a pdf. No other formats
will be accepted.
You are NOT required to include an official assignment cover sheet. Instead,
you are required to complete an online plagiarism declaration and student
statement. This will be available in Moodle alongside the assignment dropbox
link.
The format must be an essay – refer to chapter 5 of the  Q-Manual  for further
guidelines on our expectations of an essay. You are welcome to use headings
and tables within your essay if you wish.  Your assignment should be fully and
correctly referenced using the APA referencing style, and you should use at
least five (5) sources of information – at least two of these should be from
academic journals.

Word limit

1,500 words (plus or minus 10%), excluding title page and the reference
list. All words within the essay (including headings, in-text references
and tables) are included in your word count.
