Macquarie Group Limited is a multinational independent investment bank headquartered and listed in Australia. The company offers financial banking, finance, funds management, life insurance, securities brokerage, real estate funds, foreign exchange, and investment services among others.  Macquarie Group Limited manages over A$495 billion assets and it is ranked as the largest infrastructure asset manager and mergers and acquisition adviser globally (Macquarie Group, 2019). In year ending March 2017, the company achieved a net profit of $A2,217 million representing a 7.5% increase from the previous year. The company has employed about 14,000 employees working in 25 countries (Macquarie Group, 2017).

Threat of new entrants is medium in Australia. New entrants brings new technologies and innovations thus putting pressure on the company through offering new value provisions to customers, lower pricing strategy, and cost reduction. Forces and SWOT analysis of your chosen listed Australian company. Based on the two analyses, identify your
company’s corporate and business strategy.
Investigation Report Format:
The Investigation submission is to contain:
l A completed Assignment Cover Page attached to the front of the portfolio (available in the
Assignments folder on Blackboard);
l A table of contents is NOT required for this report. However, a short introduction is required
outlining the purpose of the report and background on the company. A concluding paragraph is
also required that clearly summarises the report. Please see the marking rubric for the Investigation,
which is available in the Assessments folder in Blackboard.
l A reference list. All your references must be properly cited in your report and included in the
reference list at the end of report. Students shall use the Chicago referencing style when preparing
the report. More information can be found on this style from the Library web site:

l Plagiarism is a serious academic offence. Students should become familiar with Curtin policy on

l The maximum length of the Investigation report is 800 words (word count is inclusive of tables and

margin. Note that it is the quality, not the length of the report that determines the grade of the
assignment.
The assignment must:
l Use 12-point Times New Roman font;
l 1.5 space format, 1-inch margins;
l paragraphs (not dot points); and
l the submitted file be named as outlined below.
File Format and File Name:
MS Word with a file name “Student ID_ACC5003_S2_2019”.
For example, for a student with a student id 1234567, the file name should be
1234567_ACC5003_S2_2019.doc (or .docx).
Submission:
The soft copy of your work must be submitted via Turnitin on Blackboard. (You can refer to
http://academicintegrity.curtin.edu.au/students/Turnitin_student.cfm. for how to submit your Turnitin
assignment.) You are allowed to submit your assessment three times through Turnitin to enable you to
check your originality report and identify any issues that need to be rectified.
Please note that the Blackboard site may be taken offline occasionally for maintenance purposes. During
these maintenance periods, you will not have access to the materials on Blackboard and will not have
access to Turnitin. Curtin Technology Services (CITS) will notify the university community of the scheduled
maintenance times.

Failure to submit through Turnitin by the due date and time will automatically incur a penalty as outlined in
the Late Assessment Policy.
2. Case Study (Part Two)
The Case Study assessment is due at noon, Wednesday,16 October 2019. This assessment is an individual
assignment and is worth 40% of the total mark in this unit. The assessment must be submitted through
Turnitin within the Assessment tab on Blackboard. The word limit for this assessment is 800 words. Please

Assessment Requirement:
Scrutinize your chosen company’s Annual Report and other reports for performance trends of the company.
Perform an analysis of the financial performance of your chosen company over the past two consecutive years.
Also, investigate the level of intellectual capital disclosure of your chosen company in the most recent annual and
sustainability reports. Using accounting theories that you have studied, identify possible reasons for the level of
voluntary disclosures.
Case Study Format:
The Case Study submission is to contain:
l A completed Assignment Cover Page attached to the front of the portfolio (available in the
Assignments folder on Blackboard);
l A table of contents is NOT required for this report. However, an introduction paragraph and a
concluding paragraph are required. The introduction should outline the importance of conducting a
financial analysis and identifying performance trends. The conclusion should evaluate the
performance of the chosen company as a result of the analyses performed. Please see the marking
rubric for the Case Study, which is available in the Assessments folder in Blackboard.
l A reference list. All your references must be properly cited in your report and included in the
