Lululemon is a sports apparel speciality company that was founded in 1998 by Chip Wilson in Canada. The founder had a wide experience in running surf, skate and snowboard Apparel Company for a period of 20 years and he identified a gap in yoga apparel during a yoga session, he immediately started the company to produce fitting and fun yoga apparel. Still the chief designer of the company, Wilson used the feedback from yoga students to perfect the apparel. The vision of the company is to evaluate the world from mediocrity to greatness and it has a mission of creating yoga apparel for people to live longer, healthier and fun lives. Since its inception, the company has recorded incredible growth with a fast expansion throughout Canada and to the United States. In its expansion strategy, it has created alliances with yoga classes in its respective market, which has given it a market advantage over its competitors. However, in 2008, the company was facing a turbulent market with declining sales and in a transition period. The company hired Christine Day as its new CEO after serving as the SVP in January 2008 with a task of increasing sales to $1 billion. This study will analyse the internal environment of Lululemon using VRIN and Value Chan frameworks.
