MBA401: GOOGLE’S HUMAN RESOURCES PRACTICES

Executive Summary

This study looks into the Google’s human resource practices. The study starts with an organisational overview of Google. It then looks into the HR strategy and practices of Google, concentrating on the company’s level of employee engagement. The study finds that although Google has put in place elaborate strategies to engage its employees, the company still faces major problems. It has a high turnover of employees, especially at the management level.  Google is one of the companies with larges workforce and considering that it is a technology-based company that relies on the innovativeness of its workforce, it has elaborate strategies to motivate and engage employees. From the HR challenges the company is facing, the study makes two recommendations. First, it recommends that Google should do more to increase intergenerational integration of its workforce because it is most workforce is young and the management workforce is old, a factor that could be contributing to high attrition rate. Second, the study recommends that the organisation should look more into internal recruitment because such employees are compatible to the organisation.
