MBA401: People, Culture and Contemporary Leadership

MBA401 Reflective Journal People, Culture and Contemporary Leadership

People are an integral part of organizational performance. Organisations do not exist in vacuum, but they are integral part of the society and they are subjected to the forces that shape the society. As a part of the society, an important element of organisational success is management of people through human resource strategies (Howell 2012). Leadership is the art of getting the best of out of people to drive organisational performance. The aim of this reflective journal is to highlight what I have learned about people, culture, and leadership as integral aspect of organizational performance. The reflective journal will highlight my leadership style, organizational factors affecting leadership, and how I can develop and enhance my leadership skills.

My Leadership Style

Leadership is the art of inspiring confidence and support among subjects to rally them towards organisational goals. People are an important asset in an organisation and they should be accorded the same attention like other resources, mainly through improving organisational leadership. Effective leadership helps to attain desired outcomes like productivity, quality, and satisfaction in all situations. Reflecting on the definition of leadership and the leadership process, leadership style is a factor of the leaders, group members, and the context the leadership is applied to (Pardoe 2017a). The triadic relationship balances power between the three elements and it is how this power is exercised that defines leadership style.
