Organisational Communication

Introduction

Communication is very important in any organisation as it involves passage of important messages across the organisation. Communication influences the performance of an organisation because it affects the manner in which individuals perform their duties. This means that effective communication enables employees to understand the goals and visions of an organisation and hence their duties are tied to the achievement of these goals and visions. However, ineffective communication would negatively affect the performance of employees and the overall performance of an organisation because employees are not aware of what they are required to do and hence their duties are overlapping. The success of any team is based on the success of the communication strategies employed and hence team leaders are urged to employ the best and most effective communication strategies that would allow all team members to contribute and share their information. Effective communication can be defined as verbal or non- verbal method relaying information that gets a point across. This assignment therefore gives an example of a successful communication and a failed communication and describes the two types of communication. This assignment analyses these communication types using the available theories of communication and gives recommendations for the failed communication type.
