Subway is a leading fast food restaurant that operates through a franchisee model.  The restaurant specialise in submarine sandwich and salads. It is one of the fastest growing restaurants in the world that operates through franchisee model. By 2017, statistics reveal that the restaurant had more than 42,000 stores operating in about 100 countries in all the continents (Subway).  However, more than half of these stores are in the United States of America (GRIN, 2015). It remains the largest single-brand restaurant in the world. Founded in 1965 in Connecticut, US, Subways today operates about 40,000 restaurants in 112 countries under the leadership of the current CEO, Trevor Haynes (Subway). The headquarters still remain in Milford, Connecticut but there are five regional centres that support its international operations, which include Amsterdam, Brisbane, Beirut, Singapore, and Miami. The main products offered by the company include submarine sandwich, wraps, salad, paninis, cookies, doughnuts, and muffins. Subway’s first international expansion in 1984 was in the Middle East, when the first chain was opened in Bahrain.
